Rosa Perez Avendaño

Ms. Avendaño is entering her 28th year in education. Most recently, Ms. Avendaño held the position of principal at Crockett Early Education School for the past three years. Prior, she served as a principal at Westwood ISD and held leadership positions at San Antonio ISD and Irving ISD. She began her career in education working as an Early Childhood ESL teacher, then lead dual-language teacher in San Angelo ISD for eight years. Throughout her educational journey, she has been fortunate to work with students from Pre-Kindergarten through High School as well as adult second language learners.  

Ms. Avendano's educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master of Educational Leadership degree from Angelo State University.  

Ms. Avendaño is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and helping them excel in all aspects of life. As the new principal of Delmas F. Morton Elementary, she will continue putting students first, supporting their academic and social growth. She believes in the power of collaboration and building strong partnerships with staff, parents, and the community. It is her vision that together, Morton will continue to shape the future of education, making a lasting impact on each child.  

Outside of her professional commitments, Rosa is an avid reader, enjoys DIY home projects, family trips, and giving back to the community. She is dedicated to her family and enjoys spending quality time outdoors with her grandson.
